Today, I woke up and decided to look over some old books I had saved in a box a couple of years ago. As I started looking over them, I could't help but to remember they were my diaries, yes, as lame as it might sound I kept records of every single moment I had spent over the years. It all became crystal clear for me, when I couldn't stop reading through their endless pages and there it was, my pure fascination for education from its mere beggining to its infinite growth.
Then I read it, that sentence which pulled me back to reality... "Is nature the root of our whole education?". A question I never happened to answer, maybe just underestimated as well. So there I was, a little shocked by my own personal discovery of a question I was never able to answer. Having a blank mind looking for an answer, I sat down in the middle of my beautiful spring garden and looked deeply at everything that surrounded me, from the crystal clear clouds whose colors were astonishing to the green trees, which reminded me of the thousands of organisms that revolved around them. As I felt the cold breeze I could then link it all, I am a scientist and the mere basics for everything I am today and all of the things I know were surrounding me right there from the small organisms flying around me to the smell of the roses which were craving for the sun to shine through them. So there I could conclude, we cannot understand human intellectual before understanding human nature first, we are nurtured by nature itself it is within us no matter what we do. We were all children, and each one of us had the opportunity to think how tall we should make a stair to be able to reach the moon, or how many animals we could see in the sky. Our creativity begins with what surrounds us, and that right there is the beggining of our education as future human beings.

Very fascinating indeed!!
ReplyDeleteZeno the stoic, an ancient philosopher, emphasized the importance of nature and its mighty effect on the human personality. he says, "The goal of life is living in agreement with nature." he also says, "All things are parts of one single system, which is called Nature; the individual life is good when it is in harmony with Nature." so, Yes, I totally agree that nature has all the elements of life and includes very close simulations of the human body and the harmonious coordination among its system.
Yes, nature is one of the oldest and most competent teachers of man kind.
Hello Antoine, thank you for sharing your thoughts!. Oh yes, Zeno the stoic I have always admired his thoughts about nature and education. Throughout nature we are able to understand the world in a perspective that does have meaning to us regardless of what we have been taught or have experienced before.
DeleteYour style is amazing, Rima. Even when I don't leave a comment, I'd always like to check your blog for any new!
ReplyDeleteAs for this masterpiece I just read, I believe yes. It's our passion for knowledge, every single moment, that drives us through life. Nature has always surrounded man, full with its mysteries, magic, and fountains (as you like to call them :) )
I believe any new knowledge is to stem from nature; it's always nutured us very well, hasn't it?
However, I'd go more for the fact that the knowledge we've always sought has to direct us, one way or another, to our real understanding: understanding God, the Almighty! I'm not an extremist ;), but things seem so to me.
And to me, the best place to seek God is nature; it is where his power is explicitly manifested!
Thank you Hanaa, I am glad you have liked my blog:). You are right, every single piece of knowledge has pure connection to nature and it has taught us even in ways we do not even realize happen. And afterall I do also believe that the best place to seek God is nature itself the true power behind us all.
Deletei agree with hanaa on this amazing piece of work. i would like to emphasize what you had said as i think that the human mind is a white sheet and knowledge is acquired through experience and observations where nature takes the biggest part.
ReplyDeleteHello Ziad, thank you for sharing your thoughts!. Oh tabula rasa thats right, nature imprints ideas on us by the different situations and experiences we encounter throughout it.
