"Creativity" The Engine of Education!

As I was passing through the streets today I couldn't help but to notice some children hiding behind a tree and smiling about what they were doing, of course since I am not a really curious person (ironically) I approached them and took a closer look at what they were doing. To my surprise they had done an absolutely amazing grafitti on the wall of their school a drawing which to me seemed just perfect.

I attempted to ask them why they were doing so on this wall as it is highly prohibited in my town to do any kind of public disruption, and it was not a surprise when they said: "Well miss, we are not granted the opportunity to do it somewhere else!". At this moment, I sincerely felt sad just with the thought that our schools are not granting students the chance of developing a very important aspect in their lives, the engine of education... Creativity!.

Many individuals today do not really know what this word means, whether it is something that can be taught or pure inspiration that is only granted to some of us, so what is it?. I find it to be very simple, creativity is subjective and it is different when the eye of the beholder changes, it varies from inventing something to thinking about a mere thing and being able to modify it in order to uncover hidden knowledge this is why, I find it is extremely important to support its development specially at our schools and provide the measures to do so.

  1. hey Rima, i think we as teacher have to encourage students to be creative and show their abilities in their own ways. and i believe that we can profit if we imitate others in some issues. But in education it is necessary to follow our philosophies and to create things that support our work. Creativity reflects our real initiatives to do and achieve the success.

    1. Hi Naima, that is right we must create ways to allow students portray their creativity that is when we will see the true initiatives they really have towards education

  2. Am not sure how really creative they really were , but i think school's walls were to be so better looking and more vital with students expressing themselves in such graffiti.

    1. Hi Baraah, the grafitti was amazing but it was really sad to see they were doing it at the school's wall rather than in the school itself...

  3. although creativity should be fostered in students but this could be done in other ways. regarding that students are not allowed to show their creativity in drawing on walls, i think this is not a negative issue for them, imagine what will happen if they were allowed to do so!!

    1. Hello Ziad, I know I felt really sad to see how they had to go and express themelves in their school's wall rather than actually doing that inside their school. That is why I feel many teachers are failing to actually allow their students'creativity to emerge out of the ground and into their lives.
