Overcomming Life Changing Surprises...

Well, today was the day where everything I have gone through these couple of years blended together. By this I imply that my memories concerning education itself became crystal clear. Most of you do not know my story, but here it goes...

I was born in the island of Margarita located in Venezuela and lived there for 12 years which of course I will never forget; I had no true knowledge upon neither the Arabic nor the English language and it was an absolute suprise to me when my parents decided to come to Lebanon. So here I was, in a new country in an extremely new environment, and of course surrounded by a totally foreign not one but two languages, two that I had to learn as soon as possible. I must admitt, I was sort of depressed and overwhelmed by the pressure of having to follow an educational system which was so different from what I was used to, and not only did I jump two grades but also, I had to communicate with others using a language I did not even know existed.

Most of you must be saying, oh poor girl, I bet she really struggled to pass. But surprisingly I did not! I had set my mind to learn both English and Arabic as soon as possible, with no help from a private tutor. I started watching movies, reading books, even attempting to speak with others and permitting them to correct me. So there I was, putting my maximum effort to achieve what I once thought was unreacheable; soon enough I was able to speak with others and to my surprise get the highest grades in my class. Thats when I realized it, education itself was what permitted me to stand on my feet, the thirst to achieve everything and anything I set my mind to accomplish. True education lies within us, we are the ones that enhace its development and give it its real meaning in life.
